Answer Questions to Generate Free Website Traffic
In order for your blog to thrive, you’re going to need traffic. Without traffic, you’re simply an island in the sea that is the internet. If you’re selling something, or you’re just trying to be heard, there have to be people on your site to buy or to listen. If you’re just starting out, you might not have a big budget to spend on advertising, so you’re going to have to learn how to generate free website traffic.
One of the best sources of free traffic is the search engines. This is very natural traffic (also called organic traffic) because someone has typed an inquiry into a search box, and your website hopefully comes up with an answer to this inquiry. Let’s say you’re trying to become an well know uber blogger, whatever your topic of choice is, you need to write in a way that answers others’ questions. You should try to think of the things you wanted to know about when you were just starting out, and write about those things in great detail. If you’re just learning about a new topic, make that known as well. Tell your audience that you wanted to know about X, so you researched it, and this is what you found. They will appreciate your honesty, and it will build trust. From there your traffic will blossom; you’ve answered someone’s question, and if they also have a website or blog, they may choose to link to you when they talk about the subject themselves. This has the double benefit of getting a backlink for your blog (which builds trust in Google’s eyes) and funneling traffic that is interested in your topic (because you’ve built trust with that author). This will clue more and more people into passion and expertise, and word will spread. This will be a painfully slow process at first, but if you stick with it you will succeed.
Learning how to generate website traffic is crucial for your blog to grow. When you’re just starting out, you might not care whether or not people come to your blog; you’re just excited to be writing about something you love. That initial excitement will die down rather quickly though, and if you don’t have people to bounce your content off of, you’re going to find it gets rather boring. The internet, and blogging, is an open conversation, so start answering people’s questions, and get traffic to your website.
