Great Adsense Revenue Won or Lost With Keyword Research
If you are thinking about making money from the Google Adsense program than you need to take the time to learn learn and perfect keyword research.
This is where great adsense revenue is either won or lost and failure to do complete this step properly will result in you wasting a lot of unnecessary time on unprofitable niches or keywords.
There are many formulas out there. They vary in their approach but their intent is all the same. They all center around getting an approximate estimate of what keyword would pay if top ranking were achieved on Google for it and second, if we could ever hope to rank for it in our lifetime.
If you could ever rank for “cheap insurance” on Google you would be a millionaire but if tried to go after that word it would be until you were 85 years old until you got on page one for that phrase.
Put your yourself in the mind of the person looking up the word you want to rank high for.
You need to ask yourself this.
‘Are they looking to buy something or are they just looking to be entertained or informed?”
You consistently make money from adsense when your traffic is people looking to actually purchase something.
Again, the organic traffic you are getting on your blog or website needs to be from individuals looking to fulfill a need now!
When they come to your website and see your adsense ads that fullfill their need they will click on them.
Then, voila!
Google is happy and you are happy.
Here is a real life example of the first major mistake I made before I knew about keyword research.
I bought a site from a woman that ranks #3 on page one for sports highlights. It still does. The woman I bought the website from had ranked this website using StumbleUpon. It was back in the day before Google owned them that you could use that social media outlet to successfully rank websites.
Anyway, I bought the website for almost six hundred dollars. I planned to put adsense on it and make at least $100 a month. I figured a five to six month ROI was not bad at all.
Anyway, to this day I probably have made $10 from that website. Best learning experience of my life. If I made fifty cents a day from that site I was clapping. Turns out when people look up that particular keyword they are not looking to buy anything. They are just looking for stats or current news related to sports.
It was not based on a “buying keyword.”
To make great adsense revenue your keyword must
- have a high enough cost per click
- have enough volume ( monthly searches)
- be a buying keyword
If it is not then move on. You will waste a lot of time and money if you pursue it.
