Make Money Selling Stock Images Online
How would you like to earn money with the click of a button? A click you ask? Yes, pushing the shutter button on a camera, the click of a mouse, or the “record” button of a camcorder.
If you’re a photographer, not even a professional, just something you like to do on the side, and you have images you’d like to share with the world, you could make money! Or if you’re an illustrator or a film maker you can make money too! How? There are sites online, specifically stock image companies, that will allow you to advertise your images on their site and sell them. They take a cut once your image sells. The beauty is that, if you set it up right, the same image can sell repeatedly, allowing you to make a continuous stream of income.
There are many categories of images, from glamour images to product photography (aka products for sale). Some are colorful, awe inspiring, and amazing pictures taken by professionals. Others are snapshots taken from a digital camera. Different sites require different qualities of images.
Before submitting an image to a company for approval, it is important to figure out what type of image they’re looking for. For instance, does the image need to be enhanced? How much enhancement is enough? Many of these websites have a million images for sale, so you’ll want to research the category you’d like to submit your image to. For instance, I was interested in finding out what the most downloaded pictures were on one particular site under “product photography”. I performed a search and found that they were almost all photographs, not illustrations. So, perhaps there is a void that could be filled on that site, for good illustrations of products for sale. Many were platters of food and body care products.
So, if you want to make some extra money, selling your images online to stock image sites might be a great option for you.
