Reimage Review – Can It Handle All Your Computer Repair And Maintenance Needs?
The majority of people who work from home do not have the technical support team to perform computer repairs so invariably have to turn to PC maintenance software to automate the process. This Reimage review covers over 3 years using this repair tool to speed up Windows XP PCs, fix registry faults and even recover from a blue screen error.
I first discovered Reimage after researching tools to fix a blue screen error (the exception number was 0xc0000218) I had seen with an old XP laptop. Reimage runs as an ActiveX control within IE that scans then repairs faults using their online repository. It runs as an service so doesn’t require CDs to install it and it repairs are not limited to the contents of a CD (as its inventory is online).
With the blue screen error the fault was with faulty/missing registry keys due (most likely) to the uninstalling applications from the laptop the day of the issue. Reimage used their knowledge base of healthy key settings to reset the keys correctly as part of its repairs.
I have used it subsequently on my other XP when application faults have occurred and each time the scan & repair is done within 30 minutes and has been able to restore applications & hardware to running order. In fact, one noticeable benefit on the initial repairs is that the PC generally is a lot faster in how everyday applications run and faster net access. The blurb does state that this can occur due to the device driver and registry key updates it makes which are prone to becoming out-of-date or overwritten in time.
All in all, Reimage has saved my laptop from having to be reformatted and my losing all the data on it. For my other desktops it has enabled me to speed up my computers without needing to send them back to the computer vendor for upgrades and maintenance. In the absence of having the technical know-how to make these repairs by yourself it is a useful tool to automate repairs when things go wrong.
