Starting a Wholesale Jewelry Business
Many people have dreams of starting their own business in order to get out of the corporate hustle and bustle. But is the grass really greener on the other side of the corporate world? Maybe and maybe not. But the one thing everyone needs to know that the statistics don’t lie. And if you want to start your own wholesale jewelry business, the statistics are not on your side. But let’s put that aside right now and focus on a few simple tips you need to know when starting your new wholesale jewelry business.
First, you need to figure out how you will stock your wholesale jewelry inventory. No sense in getting started with your business if you don’t have a source of inventory. Maybe you don’t need any inventory because you will be running a drop-ship operation. This means that you act as a broker between the buyer and the seller. This is similar to Amazon.com. Although they have huge inventory of books, DVDs and other products, a lot of the stuff you buy from Amazon.com is sold by someone else.
Second, you need to figure out a method of distribution. Will you be selling wholesale jewelry online or will you lease a storefront downtown? If you are going to sell your jewelry online, you will be very dependent on getting high search rankings so that people can find you and buy from you. On the other hand, you can save a lot of money in start-up costs if you set up online in your home as opposed to signing a three or five-year lease at a store in the mall or at a retail center.
Third, don’t spend all your money on advertising in the beginning. It can be very tempting to launch a massive advertising campaign in your first few months. Rather, it is recommended that you stretch the ad budget at least one year so that you don’t fizzle out too soon. These are only a few tips, but hopefully they can help you in your quest to start your own wholesale jewelry business.

This is a good start.
I would add, that you need to have a clearly defined marketing plan.
There needs to be a plan or strategy to drive traffic to your site.
Thanks!
